吉林省通化县金刚砂厂是1988年隶属通化县经委的全民企业。全厂占地面积1.9万平方米，建筑面积4173平方米。全厂职工240人，其中各类管理人员35人，工程技术人员7人。全厂拥有55台套设备。固定资产净值177万元。
该厂的主要产品为碳化硅和棕刚玉年产碳化硅和棕刚玉分别为1000吨和1500吨。1988年完成工业总产值274.3万元，出口创汇118.5万美元，获利税127.1万元。
本厂为增加产量，拟定在通化县二密镇建立一座年产4000吨碳化硅的冶炼厂。这一项目实现后，每年可增加产值880万元，增加利税442万元。
本厂正与朝鲜机械设备成套公司，香港瑞丽洋行在长春市洽谈，三方拟合资420万美元，在朝鲜境内建立一座年产5000吨碳化硅冶炼工厂。
